Kyle Conder, Director of Athletics for California State University, Bakersfield announced that Greg McCall’s contract as CSUB’s head coach for the women’s basketball team will not be renewed.  

McCall has served as CSUB’s Head Coach for the women’s basketball team since the 2011 season. He entered his 13th and final season in the fall of 2023. 

“First I want to thank God for blessing me with the opportunity for being in one place for 17 years and 13 years as the third Head Coach in program history at CSUB,” said McCall in a statement released by CSUB.  

During his time at CSUB, he led his team to three post-season appearances and two Women’s National Invitation Tornament appearances in 2014 and 2015.  

“I can’t hang my head or be upset. That’s the nature of this business… At the end of it I can raise my hands and say, ‘Man, what a ride, what a joy, what a thrill to be in the position that I have been in so long,’” said McCall.  

CSUB will begin a national search to replace McCall for the 2024 to 2025 season.
