Downtown Bakersfield – According to a statement released by the Bakersfield Police Department, at about 1 P.M. they were notified of a bomb threat at the Chase Bank near Chester Ave.
The suspect was described as a male and is holding people hostage. Many city buildings that were on lockdown due to the threat have been evacuated.
Bakersfield Police Department was able to negotiate a safe surrender of one of the hostages and all others are in good health as stated in a recent update.
As of 9:10 PM Bakersfield Police has confirmed the release of a second hostage.
No arrests have been made. People are advised to not go to downtown at this time.
