Cal State Bakersfield’s Women soccer went up against Cal State Fullerton on Oct. 30 on for their final game of the 2025 season. Although they clinched playoffs, CSUB had an opportunity to increase their Big West standings from 6th place to 3rd place with a win.
In the first half, both teams were feeling each other out. Little to no mistakes were made, and any upcoming explosive play would quickly get shut down by the opposing side. CSUB kept their composure on tact with #21 Defender Mya Clarke clearing the ball towards Fullerton’s field, #6 Midfielder Jaiden Gore keeping drives alive with her dribbles, and #7 Forward Cynthia Ramirez fighting through contact. With the first half ending in a 0-0 tie, the Roadrunners and Titans headed into halftime.
In the second half, The Titans came out swinging and applied pressure to Bakersfield. CSUF interrupted CSUB’s flow with tightening up their defense, winning challenges, and effectively attacking the box. After #20 Defender Madison Cole commits the foul inside the box, a penalty was given and CSUF #10 Forward Isabella Cruz slots it into the right side of the net, gaining the Titans a goal, 1-0. The `Runners were eager to tie the game but in the 79th minute, Isabella Cruz drove herself into the CSUB’s Box and scored another goal, seemingly clinching Fullerton’s 3rd seed spot. As the final whistle blows, the final score was 0-2.
Now entering the BW playoffs, On Nov 2, Bakersfield will face off against Fullerton at the Titan’s Stadium. The Roadrunners are looking forward to this rematch but are ready and prepared to potentially make another trip to the BW championship game.
