The CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners dominated the University of The Pacific Tigers 8-1, April 6, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. This matchup doubled as it was also Athletes Appreciation Day and before the first ceremonial pitch, various student athletes were recognized in the audience for their athletic achievements. The stands carried fun electric energy as CSUB student athletes showed support for the baseball team. CSUB came out confident, firing the first pitch and shutting down the Tiger’s offense quickly. Tigers stood their defense, closing out a quiet first inning -scoreless for both teams.
After a calm first inning, the second inning brought in excitement to the stadium. Jacob May brought in the team’s first run. With the bases fully loaded Devon Wilkes drives in a big hit, giving the Runners a four-run lead. By the third inning, the Tiger’s had some smart baseball to play. They continued to base-run but failed to enter the scoreboard. As frustration began to set in for UOP, it also set in the stands.
The Roadrunners struck again the fourth inning, driving in four more runs leading off at 8-0. The CSUB Bullpen cycled when Shane McAlinden struck out five UOP Tigers. The Tigers were consistently on base but could not get on the scoreboard when the moment mattered. With the Runners exceeding lead, they left no room for error. CSUB kept their momentum up, and their defense strong.
Moving into the final inning University of The Pacific scores in a run making the final score 8-1. Victory to the Runners! CSUB is scheduled to play the next game Wednesday April 8, 2026 at St. Mary’s.
