Cal State Bakersfield makes program history with their first series win against Cal State Northridge taking the first two games against them by scores of 3-2 on March 13, and 2-1 in the opening game of the double header on March 14.
In the first inning on March 13, the Runners would get on the board first thanks to a Hannah Garcia sacrifice fly to put them up 1-0. The Matadors would answer back in the third inning with an RBI double by Isabella Hiner followed by an RBI triple by Reagan Jackson to give them a 2-1 lead.
The Runners would answer right back with a CSUN throwing error leading to Ariana Harrison scoring to tie the game 2-2.
It all came down to the seventh inning, one swing can end the game and Mari Narvaiz hits a homerun to left field to win the game for CSUB in spectacular walk off fashion, 3-2. To take the first game of the three-game series.
Game two of the series began on March 14 and CSUN was going to do their best to start off fast and avoid losing the series. They started off pretty after Hiner was walked when the bases were loaded, which was scored by Isabella Valdez to give the Matadors a 1-0 lead.
The Runners would answer back quickly with a sacrifice fly by Erika Barela allowing Alexandra McDanell to tie the game 1-1. CSUB wasn’t done as Anahi Castillo reached on base after an error that led to a run scored by Garcia to give the Runners a 2-1 lead. Cedes Saldana would shut down the Matadors the rest of the way giving CSUB a 2-1 victory. The dynamic duo of Saldana and Amber Estrada held CSUN to three total runs in the first two games leading them to win the series.
