Jocelynn Landon, Editor-in-Chief of The Runner
Jocelynn Landon is a visionary and current Editor-in-Chief of The Runner, where she implemented innovative reporting projects and strategic marketing initiatives. Under her leadership, The Runner produced compelling publications that not only focused on the university but also highlighted the broader Kern community. Jocelynn spearheaded the 50th-anniversary campaign for The Runner, forming a committee to organize events and stories that celebrated five decades of impactful journalism. This campaign included a gallery exhibit in the Media Arts Center, showcasing the publication’s rich history and a Mixer event bringing decades of former journalists together, to look back at where they got their start. Jocelynn’s efforts extended to grant writing, successfully securing funding to support the campaign’s various initiatives. As Features Editor, she introduced “Runners Around Kern,” a local reporting initiative focused on rural areas in Kern County. Her dedication to quality journalism earned her a state award for her exceptional photography, further enhancing the publication’s visual storytelling.
