Roadrunners hold on to beat UC San Diego

La Jolla, Ca- The CSU Bakersfield volleyball team demonstrated their resiliency on Friday night against UC San Diego with a five-set victory (25-19, 19-25, 25-21, 15-25, 15-13). With the win the Roadrunners swept the season series with UC San Diego and keep their hopes alive to finish third place in conference play despite being picked to finish ninth out of eleven teams.  

 The Roadrunners were able to secure a victory despite the Tritons leading in points, kills, assists, and digs. Paige McCluskey was the big hitter on Friday for the Roadrunners, the outside hitter recorded a team-high 19 kills including 8 digs to help secure the win.  

 One of the most consistent players from the Roadrunners all season, Seleisa Elisaia, continued guiding the Roadrunner offense when she recorded a team-high fifteenth double-double of the season. Elisaia also added 44 assists and 14 digs on Friday. Paige Calvin (13), Caroline Benke (12), and Anna Unke (11) all recorded double-digit digs for the Roadrunners. 

 UC San Diego players Ava McInes led all with 23 kills while Naya Dong had a game high 26 digs.  

 The Roadrunners (18-9,11-8 Big West) will head to Irvine to play the UCI Anteaters (16-13, 9-10 Big West) on Saturday, Nov. 27 with a 7 p.m. (PT) start time.
