Bakersfield loses to #15 Oregon State

Corvallis, Ore- CSU Bakersfield women’s basketball team knew it would be a challenge to face #15 Oregon State on Saturday night and played the Beavers tough throughout the first quarter. Unfortunately, poor shooting sunk the Roadrunners as they lost 82-51. 

 The first quarter was the most tightly contested between the two teams as the ‘Runners shot 58% percent from the field. After a 10-10 tie the Beavers would end the quarter leading by 19-14.  

 The game blew wide open in the second quarter as the Beavers went on a 12-0 run to take a 29-17 lead (7:05). Oregon State’s defense forced the ‘Runners to shoot a sparse 15% from the field in the quarter.  

The third and fourth quarter followed much of the same script as the Beavers outscored the ‘Runners a combined 44-30 for the remainder of the game. 

 The Beavers were led by AJ Marotte who came off the bench and scored 19 points including 4-6 from the 3-point line. Taya Corsodale added 10 points and led all players in rebounds with eight. Along with poor shooting the ‘Runners were outrebounded to the tune of 38-16.  

 Vanessa Austin led the Roadrunners in scoring with 14 points. Two other Roadrunners scored in double figures as well, Andie Easley had 12 points and Jayden Eggleston added 10 points.  

 CSUB (1-2) will travel to play Santa Clara (3-0) next Saturday November 27 for a 1 p.m. tipoff.
