CSU Bakersfield is committed to being a well-rounded campus by being accepting of every student and staff member, no matter their race, gender, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation. To embrace this, CSUB will be hosting a Pride Week from Oct. 5, 2019 to Oct. 12, 2019 in support of diversity on our campus.

Pride Week will be hosted by Campus Programming and co-sponsored by Associated Students Inc., Student Housing and Residence Life, LQBTQ+ Network, Pride Affinity Group, MAGEC, the Student Recreation Center, and the Walter Stiern Library. The purpose of Pride Week is to give students the opportunity to participate with one another in an open space regardless of their own individual opinion on the LGBTQ+ community.

To kick off the week, Pride started with a kickboxing event called Kick Out Hate on Saturday Oct. 5 in the Sequoia Room of the SRC. Later that day, a CSUB volleyball game vs. Seattle U was held in support of the women’s volleyball team.

During the week, a march for equality is planned to begin on the corner of Gosford and Stockdale to take the streets in pride and equality on Oct. 8, 2019 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Additionally, a Pride Party will be held on the Student Union patio. There will be a drag show, games, activities, and music to enjoy.

These and more activities are scheduled during Pride Week. Those who are interested in learning more about CSUB Pride Week can visit Campus Programming on the web or on Instagram @csubcampusprogramming.

Remember that Pride Week is a safe space for all who attend.
