J.C. Penney partners with CSUB to prepare students for the future

For the second year, J.C. Penney will be closing their doors to the public early and reopening them for current CSU Bakersfield students only for their annual “Suit Up” event. The event will beheld on Sunday, Oct. 6 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The event will be held at the J.C. Penney location inside the Valley Plaza Mall on Ming Ave. The store is located on the north entrance near the parking structure. This exclusive event is for all CSUB students and alumni to shop for professional attire at discounted prices not available to the public. According to the “Suit Up” flyer, students and alumni will be able to shop for everything that they need for their next “career fair, interview, or new job”at discounts of up to 60% off on selected men’s and women’s career dress apparel.

Carlos Garcia, a Spanish major at CSUB, said, “I can’t wait for this event! I have been wanting to get my hands-on good quality suits at a discounted price.”

Students will be required to show ID in order to qualify for the 60% discount on purchases. For those who are interested in volunteering for the J.C. Penney event, volunteer registration forms are available at the CSUB website. All volunteer registration forms must be turned in by Friday, October 4th.
