Sen. Bernie Sanders will not be coming to CSU Bakersfield as planned.  Due to an artery blockage, Sanders has been hospitalized in Nevada.  It is at this time unknown if Sanders will be rescheduling the town hall meeting that was set to take place on campus Thursday, Oct. 3, or cancelled completely.

According to The Guardian, Sanders experienced chest discomfort while at a campaign event.  It was discovered that Sanders had a blocked artery and two stints were successfully placed.

“Sen. Sanders is conversing and in good spirits. He will be resting up over the next few days,” senior adviser Jeff Weaver said in a statement. “We are canceling his events and appearances until further notice, and we will continue to provide appropriate updates.”

The Runner will continue to follow and report updated information as it comes available.
