California State University Bakersfield celebrates its 2nd annual Outober with the Pride Flag Raise.
Many are familiar with Pride Month being held in June. Still, various leaders at CSUB feel it is important to celebrate pride on campus to boost inclusivity and create a safe and welcoming environment for its students.
Chief Justice Jovanna Penuelas said, “By flying this flag proudly, our university reaffirms its commitment to fostering an inclusive community where everyone feels seen, heard, and respected.”
Students and Faculty were greeted with free pride flags, pins, and pastries. However, unlike last year’s ceremony, the event did not feature the raising of the flag. Instead, the flag was raised before the start of the festivities and waved above the speakers as they shared their history and connection to Pride at the University.
