The mass vaccination hub at CSU Bakersfield will close its doors on May 14.

People ages 16 and older are still encouraged to receive their first Pfizer vaccination at the hub by making an appointment at MyTurn website; walk-ins are also welcome.

The second-does appointments will be offered at  Kaiser Permanente Medical Offices at Discovery Plaza located at 1200 Discovery Drive, Bakersfield.

“The consortium announced a shift in strategy to a community-focused clinic approach. The goal of the consortium is to remove all barriers by taking vaccine directly to the neighborhoods where people live and work,” according to an email sent by CSUB President Lynnette Zelezny to the campus community.

Since its opening the hub has administered more than 35,000 COVID-19 vaccinations to all people 16 and older.

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to get vaccinated in order to access campus for the fall 2021 semester.

“Becoming vaccinated is the best way to protect ourselves and families and emerge from this pandemic,” Zelezny wrote.
