ASI meeting: Runner Nights plans get finalized

  Members of the Associated Students, Inc. had their weekly meeting March 6, in which the discussion highlighted upcoming campus programming events, as well as campus health and safety. 

  With respect to the coronavirus, it was announced that some conventions were being cancelled and delayed. However, RowdyCon, which is scheduled for May 2 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. is scheduled to continue as planned. The event will have hand sanitizers available to further ensure the safety and wellbeing of attendees.  

   The Student Union and Organization report was about the construction happening in the Student Union building. The construction on CSU Bakersfield’s Panda Express, located in the Student Union, is almost completed. They will be moving on to the game room next. 

   Campus Programming announced that Cambodian and Nigerian students will be having a presentation in which they talk about their culture soon. No date has been confirmed. 

  The Ethics Bowl, an event in which student teams come together to discuss ethical issues, is scheduled to take place March 18 from 6 to 9 p.m. The location is yet to be determined. 

  The 5th annual Runner Nights concert will be taking place March 27 in the Icardo Center. The contract for the performing artist is being signed. It was revealed that this year it will be a male music artist. The identity of the artist will be announced on Tuesday, March 10. 

  Closing remarks included James DrnekAssociate Vice President for Student Affairs, who asked students to complete the survey and voice their opinions about what the dates spring break should be in 2022.
