CSU Bakersfield’s men’s basketball team, fans, spirit team and athletics staff came back home from New York City on Wednesday, March 29.
The community and CSUB students welcomed them back with cheers and signs as they walked off the plane.
Redshirt-senior forward Jaylin Airington says the experience was something he never imagined.
“It was crazy to be there and just to see a turnout. I’m happy to be a part of it,” Airington said.
The team was all smiles even after the loss of the game. They still appreciate the support they have from the community.
Airington’s favorite memory wasn’t only playing in Madison Square Garden.
“Probably that Junior Cheesecake that we had out there. Probably one of the best cheesecakes I ever had. It was pretty good,” Airington said.
The team signed gear for the fans as they were greeted by the community.
Redshirt-sophomore guard Damiyne Durham is expecting to continue the momentum for the next season.
“It was nice, especially playing where a lot of pros played before. I was looking forward to that,” said Durham. “Unfortunately, we didn’t finish how we wanted to finish, but we don’t plan on getting there next year. But we want to do better things or even the same thing next year.”
