When we think of Bakersfield, we seldom think of entertainment. However, for those who are willing to do a little digging, you can find lots of fun and interesting things to do here.
The following is a small guide of venues and restaurants in Bakersfield that will keep you entertained after those homework or study sessions – because, let’s face it, we all need a good distraction now and then.
Major Venues:
Rabobank Arena: Home to major events such as the Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra, Broadway in Bakersfield, Bakersfield’s Condors hockey team and even the Barnum and Bailey Circus, the Rabobank Arena often features Bakersfield’s premiere events.
Fox Theater: The Fox Theater has hosted an assortment of stars from the famous chef and world traveler Anthony Bourdain to comedian and hometown hero Gabriel Iglesias.
Local Theater Venues:
CSUB’s Doré Theater: Not only is it inexpensive, close and fun, the Doré Theater is also a great place to support CSUB’s theater and music students and departments. Admission is generally $5 for students with ID, $8 for seniors and staff and $10 general admission.
The Empty Space Theatre: The Empty Space Theatre has been entertaining citizens and students alike for the past several years. Admission is free with a suggested donation of $10 for students and seniors and $15 for general admission.
Hungry for Fun:
Prime Cut: If you are a person who enjoys to get up on stage and sing, Prime Cut gives you your time in the spotlight with Thursday night karaoke.
Iamtacos: This is a late-night eatery where anyone can enjoy good food and watch cult classic movies on the cheap. Iamtacos is open from 6 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. the first Friday of each month and Friday to Saturday, 10 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. afterward.
