Tell us about yourself. Include your age, major and year in school:
My name is Jesus Banuelos I am 18 years old, my major is engineering management with a minor in criminal justice and I am currently a freshman at CSUB.
Why are you running for this position?
I am running for the position of Executive VP because I believe that it is important for everyone to get involved in there campus and I would like to be an example of that.
What makes you the most qualified candidate for this position?
Nothing, to some this is possibly the worst thing I can say but it is true. There are others with so much more experience that should take this position but I feel like the only thing that qualifies me for this positon is that I am a student, I can speak for the students, I am nothing special, I am just looking for an opportunity to make this a better campus for everyone.
Describe for us your platform and vision for your position?
I want to make sure every student becomes involved in there campus in some way whether its joining clubs or ASI I want everyone to find something at CSUB that makes them stay after their class has finished.
Last year, roughly 25% of the student body voted in the ASI election. What will you do to gather feedback and perspectives from students who don’t vote?
I would tell students that it is easy to vote the only thing they have to do is go online and vote May 13th and 14th. In order to get feedback from those who don’t I would first ask them how it is they think they can vote.
How will you differentiate yourself from your predecessor?
I would differentiate myself in every aspect of a normal “VP” I will bring change to this school.
Of the student fee money that is paid to ASI, how do you think that fee money should be used?
The fee money should be used for events that the students can enjoy.
Students sometimes raise concerns about what they believe is a dead campus life. What plans do you have to help improve student life on campus?
First I would ask students what activities they would like to see ASI provide. We need events on campus that attract students but we need them to have and educational purpose such as bringing an entrepreneur such as Elon musk, that would bring in a lot of business and engineering majors to the event. But what about the rest what do you want?
During your potential time in office, you may have disagreements with some of your peers. How effectively do you feel you are at working with people who disagree with or dislike you?
In life there will always be people that disagree with you it’s just a matter of how you resolve your problems in a professional matter without brining physical or emotional harming others.
Why should we vote for you?
We need Jesus in office.
What’s your favorite movie and why?
This is a difficult question but I have to say my favorite animated movie is “How to train your dragon 2” I won’t say my other favorite movies because they are embarrassing.
What are your plans after graduation?
One word “WORK,” Woot! The future looks great!
