Wife and husband, softball coaches at Cal State Bakersfield are under investigation for “troubling allegations” in regards to the softball players.  

Softball assistant coach, James Davenport and head coach, Letty Olivarez both arrived at CSUB in 2023 after coaching at San Jose State.  

On March 13, Dr. Thomas D. Wallace, Vice President for Student Affairs sent a campus wide email that said that CSUB was aware of the allegations against members of the softball program and that there is an investigation. The two coaches have been placed on administrative leave midway through the season. 

Violet Salazar, violet.ariana on Tiktok and a senior infielder, posted a TikTok on March 11, claiming that Davenport had been participating in obscene behavior affecting a lot of the softball team.  

“I came out of the shower in spandex and I saw coach James who was waiting for me right outside the locker room. He grabbed my thigh really hard and looked at me in the face,” said Salazer in the TikTok. 

The Runner reached out and was denied an interview with the softball coaches.
