The week of homecoming started off with a kick as ‘Runners were introduced to the homecoming candidates and gathered to learn more about upcoming events that are taking place from Feb. 19- Feb. 24.
Students, faculty and staff attended to hear about each homecoming candidate. Candidates shared that they were excited to represent CSUB and that it’s another way to get involved. From members of the cheer team, Directors of Associated Student Inc., transfer students, moms, and international students, this year’s court had a wide range of candidates with different goals on why they think they should win the crown.
“I’m from India. Back home you do not have all of this [Homecoming]. I feel like it’s a good opportunity for me to experience how Americans do events… Being an Indian participating in this event would feel like I’m representing my community…”, said Kritika Khera, computer science major, and candidate for Junior Homecoming Royalty.
Voting for Homecoming Royalty is available for enrolled CSUB students and is now open.
Students can vote by filling out the Survey Monkey form emailed to them from [email protected]. On the form there will also be short descriptions of each candidate.
The upcoming week is packed with social events put forward by CSUB Department of Alumni Engagement, CSUB Campus Programing, and ASI.
“Homecoming brings so much joy, and unity to our campus… one of the core parts of homecoming is finding a way to bring everyone together.”, said Micheal Zachary, kinesiology senior and Campus Programing student worker.
On Feb. 20 at 11am, students have an opportunity to enjoy music, gain information about the Homecoming Dance, and meet the candidates again at the Homecoming Promo event at the Student Union Patio.
For CSUB Alumni, that work on campus, you can join your fellow alum at the CSUB Alumni Social at 11:30 a.m. at Alumni Park. Staff and faculty can gather for a fun celebration.
On Wednesday Feb. 21, CSUB students can join ASI Runner Hour at 12:00p.m. at the SU patio to enjoy music, receive this year’s original homecoming shirt, and dance information will be available.

Stiern Library Dezember Reading Room. This event requires registration to attend, and food will be provided.
Later that day, it is time to dress in pink and support the Women’s Basketball as they play against Long Beach State in the Icardo Center at 7:00 p.m.
Get ready to eat, dance, and cheer the night away as the last couple events for homecoming take place on Feb. 24.
The day starts with a Homecoming BBQ at 5pm at the Icardo Center south lawn. Join CSUB in food, activities, and music as Runners gear up for the Homecoming Basketball game.
Right after the BBQ, you can head inside the Icardo Center to watch the Men’s Basketball team compete against UC Davis at 7pm. When the clock strikes halftime, Homecoming royalty for all classes will be crowned.
As the game wraps up, prepare to dance the night away at the Homecoming dance at Marriott Hotel from 9:30pm-1am. All CSUB students are welcome to attend, and students can bring one guest. Tickets can be purchased until 4pm on Feb. 23, and no sales will be made at the door. The dance will have snacks, refreshments, and a DJ.
“This is your university and what better way to show your school spirit than homecoming. When you become an alum and come back to the campus you remember the experience you had as an undergrad.”, said EJ Callahan, Vice President of Student Affairs.
