Greek Week is underway with Associated Students, Inc. funding sorority Gamma Phi Beta.
Vice President of Gamma Phi Beta, Jasmin Lopez, 20, liberal studies major, asked ASI for $1050 to fund subway platters. The platters are $10 each and would serve 150 students.
Arts and humanities director, Ricardo Perez moved the item to motion and Vice President of Finance Navi Kaur second the motion. The board voted and passed the funding for Gamma Phi Beta.
The annual Greek Week hosts free food for students, games and activities there will be skits and each Greek club will be building a house.
“I know a lot of other clubs are practicing their skits. I hope all goes well,” said Lopez in regards to Greek Week.
The Greek liason on the board for ASI Raveena Bhakta, 20, business major, said, “I feel like it [Greek Week] will be a great way to interact with students.”
Bhakta said she expects this years Greek Week to be just as great as other years.
The theme for the houses this year is Pixar movies.
The activities for the week are a talent show on Thursday, a Friday banquet and the usual noon time food and games.
“We [Greeks] love being here and being on campus,” said Bhakta. “We take a lot of pride in our campus and we love when they [students] come support us.”
ASI holds meetings every Friday at 3:15 p.m. in the Multipurpose room in the Student Union.
