On Thursday, May 15, California State University, Bakersfield Men’s Soccer programs hosted their annual Brains of Bakersfield trivia and dinner night at the Icardo Center in efforts to raise money for soccer scholarships. Guests included alumni members, university donors, faculty and staff, and many others.
The purpose about this event was to help raise money for future soccer athletes and in order to do that, you had to put your brain to the test.
Guests in attendance were organized in trivia teams competing against each other. The first round of trivia questions were about the FIFA World Cup and then moved on to movies. There were about twenty teams in participation. Grant shared a few things about the event.
“It’s [the fundraiser] a way to assist the program and all the things that we do,” said Grant. “Whether it’s to build a dressing room, whether it’s to take the team on some of the trips that we need to go on for the fall season,” said Grant. “For the scholarship, it’s general funding towards the…it all goes back to the student athletes to help them improve and have a better experience while out here at CSUB.”
There were prizes awarded out to the winning teams and it included a signed soccer ball of the CSUB Men’s Soccer team and Magic Johnson’s autographed Michigan State basketball jersey. Dinner was provided by Lengthwise Brewing Company.
