Tony Horton, along with Team Beachbody, came to California State University, Bakersfield Student Recreational Center on Saturday, May 17 to share his “11 laws of fitness.”
Roughly 100 people consisting of students, adults, and Team Beachbody Coaches attended the seminar, meet and greet and photo-op. Attendees also had the opportunity to participate in a live workout with Horton.
With the help of Beachbody Coach, Mike Ryan, and CSUB Peak Club Director Dr. Jeff Moffit, Horton was finally able to come to Bakersfield for a reasonable price for CSUB students.
“It’s been a long time in the making,” Ryan said.
Team Beachbody is a company who sells health products like Shakeology as well as fitness programs like the Power 90 series. Beachbody hosted several top coaches, including Elizabeth Rocha, who shared her personal story of how the company has changed her life.
“If you feel like this is something you want to do, don’t look back, just go for it,” Rocha said.
Beachbody’s Senior VP of Global Sales, Jeff Hill, explains the importance of maintaining healthy habits to pass down to our children and to create a healthier lifestyle for individuals.
“We are changing people’s lives one person at a time. They live longer, they live better, and they live happier,” Hill said.
Team Beachbody is the newest company, primarily in the US, with the largest growth and the largest sales. This company presents huge opportunities for anyone who is interested in becoming a sales representative.
Horton also emphasizes the importance of taking care of your body and his 11 laws will help create a happier and healthier lifestyle.
“The reason why I wrote ‘The Big Picture’ is because everyone struggles with diet on a daily basis,” Horton said. “These are the things I was using in my life to improve my life.”
The main idea of Horton’s book is taking the 11 laws that he presents and applying them to your life. In turn, they will help create a happier and healthier you.
Horton also explains how exercise increases the levels of serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine and help to create happier lifestyles.
Creating a better lifestyle only comes with hard work and dedication and should not solely be motivated by looking for changes on the scale or the mirror.
“It’s not about your image in the mirror, it’s really about having the life that you’ve always wanted,” Horton said.
The most difficult part about beginning a healthier lifestyle is simply starting the process. Horton’s book suggests to “make a plan.”
“Focus less on how you hope to look in the future; write down what you are going to do, put it where you are most likely to see it, and follow it,” Horton said.
Physical activity can get boring and Horton’s P90X series presents a fun variety that is spontaneous and creative to help make the experience of working out more enjoyable.
“I encourage you to get outside your comfort zone; that’s what P90X and P90X2 are all about” Horton said.
Horton and Team Beachbody have changed millions of lives and hope to continue to do so with new programs as well as a larger Beachbody team of coaches.

I guess the fountain of youth doesn’t apply to hair color, as Tony clearly dyes his.
