On Sept. 13, the California State University Board of Trustees announced its decision to increase tuition by 6% every year for the next five years, which would make the total $342 for undergrad students starting Fall 2024.
The board members voted 16-0 on this decision roughly an hour ago as of now.
During the meeting, there was discussion of the CSU tuition policy being postponed until Nov. 2023. This raised questions among the trustees as to whether the decision to increase tuition would be put on hold.
This tuition policy is considered important, as stated by the Board of Trustees because it will narrow the gap between aligning costs and revenues.
The Board of Trustees also said that there is a required assessment to take place 18 months prior to a scheduled increase.
This decision will affect all students in the CSU system, including CSU Bakersfield students.
