Dr. Vernon B. Harper Jr. has just been named the new interim president of California State University, Bakersfield by CSU Interim Chancellor Jolene Koester. Harper is the current Provost and vice president of Academic Affairs at the university.
Harper will replace President Lynnette Zelezny as the interim president effective immediately after her retirement begins on Dec. 31, 2023.
“Harper will service as interim president… for approximately 12 months,” according to a news release from the CSU. During that time, the CSU Board of Trustees will conduct a search for the next appointed president of CSUB.
