California State University, Bakersfield hosted a Get Involved Fair on Sept. 6.
This was an opportunity for CSUB students to talk to the local community about volunteer opportunities, industry internships that they could participate in, and job opportunities that they could apply to.
Community members such as CAPK Food Pantry, Get Bus, and Dignity Health were also providing the students with information about the services that they provide.
There were also opportunities for students to get to know the other student departments and sign up to join a student organization.
Students can also join a plethora of clubs such as Gamers Club, BIPOC For Mental Health, Students For Sustainability, The Kit Fox Society, Anime Club, and many more where students have an opportunity to join together with likeminded individuals.
The fair also had clubs to support many populations on campus such as, Latinx Unidos Por Education, also known as LUPE, which is CSUB’s first club at CSUB for Hispanic students. Another amazing club is The LGBTQ+ Network provides a safe space for queer people on campus.
Students at CSUB can get the full list of organizations on campus by logging into Runner Sync. They can also join email lists for certain clubs, get information on meeting times, and see upcoming events.
Those who are looking for jobs or volunteer opportunities can download Handshake, a job engine app where the community can post jobs for CSUB students. If you need help with a resume, cover letter, or interview practice, you can go to the Career Center or register for events through Handshake.
