Batter up because it’s softball time

Softball has opened their season with a win against UC Santa Barbara on Feb. 8. The Roadrunners beat the Gauchos with am ending result of 4-3. CSUB lost against Sacrament State University 0-6, but got back up the next day and beat Montana University 3-2 and Sacramento State University 10-2. The Roadrunner headed down to Northridge where they played against Binghamton University and lost their first game against them 3-9, but then beat them the next game 8-4. On March 7, 2019., CSUB had its home opening game against CSU Northridge, but ended with a tough loss 3-11. The Roadrunners hold a record of 8-12 and have their next game March 22, 2019 at 2 p.m. against California Baptist University at CSUB. Below are some interesting things about some of the players and head coach.

Crissy Buck-Ziegler

Position: Head Coach

Walk up song: Dynamite

If I wasn’t coaching: I would be a teacher.

Position: First base

If I wasn’t playing softball: I would be back home with my family in Arizona and going to school.

Goals after graduating: To go to a medical assistant program

Arianna Felix

Position: Outfield

Hidden Talent: I perform singing and dancing duets with my teammate Kayla Tadewosian.

If I wasn’t playing softball: I would be hanging out with my family, friends, and my dog Fred.

Goals after graduating: Nurse

Avery Fitch

Position: Pitcher

If I wasn’t playing softball: I would be working on my family’s ranch and going to college with my friends from high school. 

Goals after graduating: I am planning on taking over my family’s Almond Ranch alongside my brother. I also really want to coach one day!

Position: Catcher

Hidden Talent: Drawing

If I wasn’t playing softball: I would be sleeping.

Goals after graduating: Work in a prison

Hidden Talent: Good at doing makeup

If I wasn’t playing softball: I would be playing basketball.

Goals after graduation: Work in forensics

Samantha Pech

Position: Catcher/ 3rd base

Hidden Talent: I can cook some pretty good enchiladas.

If I wasn’t playing softball: I would be in the police academy.

Goals after graduating: I would like to apply to the Police Academy for LAPD. Then after being on the force for a couple years I would like to apply to be in the FBI.

Hidden Talent: Play the piano

If I wasn’t playing softball: I would be be playing some other sport because I am really competitive and I enjoy all sports.

Goals after graduating: One my own business.

If I wasn’t playing softball: I would be going to college as a regular student.

Hidden Talents: Coming up with captions for my friend’s Instagram posts!

If I wasn’t playing softball: I would be playing soccer for the CSUB women’s soccer team.

Goals after graduating: Attend a Diagnostic Medical Sonography Programs. Inspire those around me!

Position: Center field

If I wasn’t playing softball: I would be at home working trying to help my mom. If it weren’t for my softball scholarship I most likely would not have been able to get the opportunity to further my education. 

Goals after graduating: Follow my father’s foot steps a bit and get my real estate license and eventually become a broker.

Hidden Talent: I can recite the whole movie Grease.

If I wasn’t playing softball: I would be watching the movie Grease and being a dog whisperer. 

Goals after graduating: To become a second grade teacher and have a beautiful family.

If I wasn’t playing softball: I would be traveling across the country/world, experiencing new cultures and different places.

Goals after graduating: To go to grad school and eventually become a certified Athletic Trainer

Position: 2nd base/ Outfield

Hidden Talent: I can play “Take it Easy” by the Eagles on the guitar.

If I wasn’t playing softball: I would still be in school, but instead of playing softball every weekend I would be camping, fishing and riding my horse on mountain trails.

Goals after graduating: I plan on going back home and teaching PE and coaching softball at Buchanan or anywhere in Clovis Unified.
