Campus programing will debut two new rides to CSU Bakersfield’s fourth annual Runner Nights Fall Carnival on Sep. 21st. The addition of the Super Sizzler and the Rock-O-Plane are an effort to combat the long lines that plagued last year’s Fall Carnival, which had 2,000 students in attendance.
With 1,500 freshmen students now attending CSUB, Emily Poole, director of Campus Programing, looks forward to giving new and returning students a night to celebrate being in a four-year university.
Promo day for the carnival will occur Sep. 19th at 11 a.m. at the Student Union patio. Poole plans on having an Master of Ceremony contest to determine who will be given the chance to hype up the crowd for Friday’s event.
“A couple of our MC’s that we’ve used in past years have graduated,” Poole said. “And so we’re looking for a student who’s interested and eager to welcome the students.”
There will be no requirements to apply for the job of MC, other than that those who wish to apply are students.
“We want to give our students as many opportunities and options as we can,” said Poole.
Admittance to the carnival along with rides and games will be free, exclusively to students – outside guest will not be allowed to participate in the carnival. The Student Union is providing free carnival food to those in attendance. Alcohol will not be served.
CSUB Runner Night 2018 Fall Carnival will begin at 9 p.m. on Sep. 21st and end at 1 a.m on the Don Hart East Lawn.
