CSU Bakersfield women’s golf headed into the Lady Thunderbird invitational after finishing in the middle of the pack at the previous two events.
After finishing up after 36-holes, the Roadrunners finished eighth out of 11 teams at the Lady Thunderbird invitational. The Roadrunners were led by the play of sophomore golfer Macey Mills. Mills in the first round, shot a 76 (+4) and finished her second round shooting a 73 (+1) to give her an overall score of +5 (149). Mills’ score gave her an sixth place overall out of 71.
Mills’ score tied the school record of 149 (+5), which was set by teammate and senior Tori Peers earlier this season at the Grand Canyon University Invitational.
Finishing behind Mills in team overall standings was redshirt junior Sara Scheidt, she began her first round by shooting a 78 (+6) and finishing the second round with a 79 (+7), 157 (+13) in total. She finished the invitational tied for 26th out of 71 women golfers.
Seniors Ariel Lee and Tori Peers finished with an overall score of 158, for a 33rd place finis in the invitational. Senior Lee posted the second best individual score by shooting a 77 (+5) in the second round of play after finished the first day with an 81 (+9). While Peers shot a 78 (+6) in the first day of play and finished the second day with a score of 80 (+8).
As a team, the Roadrunners finished with a score of 622 after two days of play.
By the time of this story posting, the Roadrunners had a two-day invitational at Sacramento State March 19-20.
CSUB hosts the California State University, Northridge Matadors at the Bakersfield Country Club beginning at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 26. This game against the Matadors is the only home game for the Roadrunners this season.
