The candidates for the 2016 ASI elections have been announced and campaigning is under way.
On Tuesday, candidates for the 2016 ASI elections were announced through an email sent to students.
Alex Dominguez and Mike Kwon are running for ASI president. Kwon is the current ASI president.
Alana Lim and Nicole Mirkazemi are running for executive vice president. Mirkazemi is the current director of social sciences and education
Oscar Alvarez is running for vice president of university affairs unopposed. Precious Nwaoha is running unopposed for vice president of finance and Mariela Gomez is running unopposed for vice president of programming.
There are eight director positions in which candidates are running unopposed. Brittany Perez is running for director of campus pride, Jeremy Ngo for director of natural sciences, mathematics and engineering, Claudia Ramirez for director of arts and humanities, Gurbachan Sidhu for director of budget management, Nadia Mirkazemi for director of R.E.P.S. program, Jesus Banuelos for upper-division director, Courtney Ludford for director of community affairs and Brianahi De Leon for director of educational events.
Two director positions have multiple candidates. Jose Garcia and Ashley Schmidt are running for director of ASI relations, and Alejandra Lopez and Wendy Melendez are running for director of clubs/organization outreach.
There are eight vacant director positions: director of corporate structure, director of sustainability, director of diversity affairs, director of facilities and commercial services, director of social sciences and education, director of business and public administration, lower-division director and graduate director.
Election polls will be open from May 25 at 9 a.m. to May 26 at 9 p.m.
